James Arthur poetry reading

James Arthur will be reading selections from his collection Charms Against Lightning.

Arthur was born in Connecticut and grew up in Canada. His poems have appeared in The New Yorker, The New Republic, Poetry, The New York Review of Books, and The American Poetry Review. Charms Against Lightning, his debut poetry collection was published by Copper Canyon Press in 2012.

He has received the Amy Lowell Travelling Poetry Scholarship, a Hodder Fellowship, a Stegner Fellowship, a residency at the Amy Clampitt House, and a Discovery/The Nation Prize.

James is an Assistant Professor in The Writing Seminars at Johns Hopkins University and he recently taught at Queen’s University Belfast as a Fulbright Scholar in Creative Writing.
